Karystos is a small and picturesque seaport with approximately 7.000 inhabitants.It has several old to very old buildings, such as Bourtzi - a Venetian fortress and the ruins of the Castello Rosso on the hill above Grambia.

The harbor with many small colorful fishing boats and its protective bay invites you to linger and to enjoy the charm. Both, there at the port, and in the little side streets, you will find a wide range of cafes, taverns and ouzo bars.

The infrastructure of Karystos is quite impressive for this small town. You will find various supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, vegetable and fish merchants, pastry shops, and of course all kind of equipment you could need. 

For emergencies, several surgeries, hospitals and pharmacies are available. Also there are several banks with ATMs.
